Macau hits record high for Chinese New Year

According to reports, the region has turned out to be a successful holiday in Macau, beating previous official estimates that it expected to welcome well over 1 million tourists for the first time in Macau's history.

About 653,100 residents, official figures from the Macau government's tourism agency, attracted 1.21 million visitors over a seven-day period from Feb. The figure represents a 26.6% year-over-year increase and far exceeds previous forecasts for a maximum 9% increase to 1.04 million. 슬롯머신

The majority of Chinese New Year tourists traveled from mainland China to Macau, about 899,000, an increase of 25.6 percent year-on-year, of which about 21 percent used the recently opened Hong Kong-Zuhai-Macao Bridge.

Gongbei has been the city's busiest entry point for a week, thanks to accepting more than 601,000 people from neighboring Guangdong Province.

According to reports, Sanford C Bernstein & Company said a significant increase in the number of people visiting Macau did not lead to an increase in total gaming revenue. Kelsey State, Vitaly Umanski and Eunice Lee, Hong Kong-based analysts, reportedly described an average of $13.9 million in daily enclave charges in the first 10 days of February, which are expected to improve by up to about 5% year over year.

"Monthly gross gaming revenue is expected to grow by a low single digit month-on-month, while VIP sales are expected to grow by a high single digit month-on-month. While visits were brisk during the holiday season, many high rollers stayed away from Macau. In the second half of this month, high-end games are expected to strengthen somewhat."
